Frequently Asked Questions

We know you have many questions, especially if you are new to the program. We get many of the same questions every year. This is an effort to answer many of them. First and foremost are the important dates for the upcoming season. If you have other questions, please email us. We want to make your experience in Waukesha Blazers Rookie program great. Thank you for your support!

Q: When does the Rookie League game schedule come out?

A: Typically, game schedules are not finalized until we finalize all rosters. You will be contacted by your coach shortly after the coaches meeting. The 2022 season will start mid-May with practices, games will start early June and will end in the last week of July with end of season games or the boys Rookie Tournament depending on the age group.

Q: Who is my son’s/daughter’s coach and when will he/she contact us?

A: All coaches will be in contact with player’s parents by phone or email one to two weeks prior to the start of the season. They will introduce themselves and explain team-specific information as well as address any questions or concerns you may have. The season will start around in the beginning of May with practices and games starting in June.

Q: I registered my son/daughter many months ago and have not heard anything. How do I know we are successfully registered and on a team?

OR

Q: I just registered my son/daughter last week, when will I know if we are on a team?

A: If your credit card has been debited – you can safely assume that your son/daughter has been registered.

Q: What time are games and what days are they on?

A: For Rookie League, ALL boys games are usually played on Saturdays in Waukesha, with a few weekday games possible depending on scheduling. Until the registration is complete, we will not know how many teams we have or what days games will be played on.

 Q: Are there any practices?

A: YES. All coaches will have practices because this is where the kids learn early skill development. The Waukesha Blazers have the following fields secured: Hillcrest Elementary, Butler Middle School, Hawthorne, or Waukesha West.  At the coaches meeting the coach will pick their time slot that works best.

Q: How are the teams made and can my son/daughter play on a team with his/her classmates?

A: These teams are put together by school, when possible. The number of players per school, whether there is a coach from that school and other circumstances will dictate this as well. Special requests are honored whenever possible and should be made on the registration forms (in the comment section).

Q: What equipment do these players need?

A: We strongly recommend that all players wear cleats, but this is not required.

The only mandatory equipment needed for these players are gloves and a helmet. Helmets are available as an add on item at check out for a nice discounted price.

Q: What is the end of the year tournament?

A: The boys 8/9, 10/12  have an end of the year tournament at the end of the regular season.

Boys 5/6, 7 and girls 5/6 will not play in the tournament on this date but they will have an opportunity to play one last game that day as well.
